Aston-Mansfield celebrates continued commitment to Real Living Wage

We are continuing our commitment to the real living wage by becoming accredited as a Living Wage Employer. 

We have been committed to the London Living Wage for many years, now we are supporting the Living Wage Foundation, and adding our voice to the many others calling for a fair wage for all.

Based in east London, we are committed to see that every employee receives the London Living Wage, a minimum hourly wage of £11.05, significantly higher than the government minimum for over 23s, which currently stands at £9.50 per hour. We believe that a living wage is particularly important in the context of the Cost-of-Living Crisis and in Newham, where 2 in 5 people are living in poverty (Trust for London).  

Our mission is to see more children, young people and families leading happy healthy lives, realising their potential and unlocking their ambition. This mission extends not just to those who access our services, but also to every employee.

London is a region where nearly a fifth of all jobs (17.2%) pay less than the real Living Wage – around 700,000 jobs. Despite this, we have continued our commitment to pay the real Living Wage and deliver a fair day’s pay for a hard day’s work.

The real Living Wage is the only rate calculated according to the costs of living.  It provides a voluntary benchmark for employers that wish to ensure their staff earn a wage they can live on, not just the government minimum.

Since 2011 the Living Wage movement has delivered a pay rise to over 300,000 people and put over £1.6 billion extra into the pockets of low paid workers.
